The Illinois DJ brings ‘Superhero’ to Love Universal to top up a discography kept on since the late 90s, one made up of serious backroom jazz suave-age, and which this time hears a serious augment from local friend and pianist Justin Dillard, who performs with full palmar flair on all tracks. ‘Superhero’ hears Lavender watch from the rooftops, nodding up Chicago’s classic swing while tilting toward a better tomorrow with solo fortissimo, while ‘Flight’ and ‘Santiago’ helm up the A with versions of what seem like unreleased dos, but which are actually exclusives.
