Description
Having previously dipped into the bulging back catalogues of Nathaniel Xm Rainer Truby and legendary New Jersey label Music Station, Miche’s Daybreakers label offers up two killer cuts from the archives of Vick Lavender’s Sophisticado Recordings imprint. First up is ‘1445 (Where It Started)’, which the long-serving Chicagoan deep house don first released back in 2019. It’s a typically expansive and musically rich affair, with Lavender and occasional studio buddy Spike Rebel layering stretched-out synth solos, grandiose chords, vibraphone melodies and heady hand percussion atop a Latin-tinged deep house beat. Rebel returns on 2018’s ‘Tiano Nuevo’, a summery slab of Brazilian jazz-funk meets colourful deep house brilliance.
