Description
Verona-based Brit Patrick Gibin specialises in musically detailed blends of jazz-funk, broken beat, boogie and deep house. Who better to remix his work, then, than the mighty Joaquin “Joe” Clausell, New York’s own master of densely layered spiritual deep house? Clausell delivers a quartet of mixes that deftly showcase many of his myriad musical obsessions. He first handles Kaidi Tatham hook-up ‘Let It Go’, delivering a layered, percussion-rich slab of organic deep house bliss, before twice re-framing ‘Joint Purpose’: first as a mix of drum machine-driven house and intergalactic synth funk (his ‘Teenage Music’ version), and later as a sub-heavy, warehouse-ready and Bobby Konders-esque ‘Dub dub’. There are two takes on ‘In This Together’ too: a slo-mo, head-nodding ‘Cosmic Arts’ version, and the bassy, breakbeat-driven brilliance of the ‘Voices of Innocence’ mix
